‘And on that day,’ says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, ‘I will erase idol worship throughout the land, so that even the names of the idols will be forgotten. I will remove from the land both the false prophets and the spirit of impurity that came with them.’ 13:2
Isn’t it interesting how quickly the things we prioritize outside of our relationship with God become meaningless?
Relationships end (or at least the worship-worthy parts). Money comes and goes. Leaders rise and fall. Power is given and taken away. Eventually, even the names of our idols will be forgotten. It doesn’t last. None of it does! God’s name is the only thing that stands and the only thing worth working your life around.
“And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.” 14:9
Oh man, I look forward to this day. When the toil of focusing all my intentions and affections solely on God will be over and his name ALONE will be worshiped. I won’t be distracted by quick fixes and tangible distractions.
What stands in your way? What distracts you? What’s the name of the idol you will soon forget?
