I loved these verses from today’s chapters:
“We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.” 4:6-7
God did something seemingly impossible for his people. How could they possibly forget something unforgettable like the moving river parting to make way for the Ark? God knows better. He knows we need memorials. We need tokens, we need to smooth our hands over things and go ah, yes, I remember.
I want there to be memorials in my life dedicated to the work God has done. I want things around that prompt my children to ask what does this mean? , and draw us around as a family to share the gospel-moments that have shaped our lives.

What is something mighty God did in your life in 2018?
What would it look like to preserve that memory?
Maybe it didn’t happen this year, but something substantial has still taken place. An addiction beaten. A relationship restored. Debt paid off. Weight lost. Confidence gained.
Take a minute and thank God for showing up and doing something great, mighty and unexpected in your life.
