John 7-8 B

“Some of the people who lived in Jerusalem started to ask each other, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? But here he is, speaking in public, and they say nothing to him. Could our leaders possibly believe that he is the Messiah? But how could he be? For we know where this man comes from. When the Messiah comes, he will simply appear; no one will know where he comes from.” 7:25-27

I can’t imagine how I would’ve treated Jesus, in the flesh, if he was someone I knew well and then one day announced himself as God’s son. Isn’t he Mary & Joseph’s child? Didn’t we grow up together? It’s weird! And not how anyone imagined the Messiah being presented.

What is something you assume about God? How do your assumptions impact your disbelief?

These chapters are packed with theology and rich narratives from Jesus. What verse did you like today?
