“Some of the people who lived in Jerusalem started to ask each other, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? But here he is, speaking in public, and they say nothing to him. Could our leaders possibly believe that he is the Messiah? But how could he be? For we know where this man comes from. When the Messiah comes, he will simply appear; no one will know where he comes from.” 7:25-27
I can’t imagine how I would’ve treated Jesus, in the flesh, if he was someone I knew well and then one day announced himself as God’s son. Isn’t he Mary & Joseph’s child? Didn’t we grow up together? It’s weird! And not how anyone imagined the Messiah being presented.

I thought it was funny that Jesus basically lies to his brothers, saying it’s not his time and he’s not going to Jerusalem. At first I thought, “okay, it’s so he can go incognito” but then he’s preaching in the temple! What in the world, Jesus
