Luckily, Bethany wrote up a perfectly tidy summary for these chapters.
Here’s what jumped out to me this morning:
“Abram recovered all the goods that had been taken, and he brought back his nephew Lot with his possessions and all the women and other captives.” 14:16
The Bible is a rescue story, and every book offers a rescue story within a rescue story. We are all held captive by something, all kidnapped from the life God intended for us. And yet he has a plan.
He had a plan for the unnamed women and the other captives who became collateral damage in all of this.
And he has a plan for you. Your life, your heart, that nagging sin you can’t shake. The adversity that feels like it defines you. It doesn’t! Jesus can, has and will rescue you from whatever is kidnapping your life.
Today, I’m thankful for the things he’s saved me from and asking him to help me give over the things that still hold me down. What about you?
