Matthew 3-4 B

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil.” 4:1

Join me in rereading Bethany’s post on these chapters!

This time around, I couldn’t help but notice the central importance of Jesus’ interaction with Satan. The weapon he pulls out to combat temptation is Scripture.

Another thing I noticed this time around is Satan’s response to his resistance: he leaves.

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

This book will bring you life, it will protect you from temptation, it will breathe truth into you, it will sort out the lies and it will give you answers.

But it can’t do any of those things unless you read it.

What keeps you from spending time with God through reading the Word?

What are some areas Satan tempts you?

What pieces of Scripture could you memorize to be armed against that specific temptation?
