“A Father to the fatherless, a Defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, He leads out the prisoners with singing.” (68:5-6)
He does the most miraculous things for the least of these. I love to praise Him for this. He is endlessly good. I can bear witness to God doing all these things. I’ve seen Him set the lonely in families, time and time again. I’ve seen Him be a powerful protector and provider for orphans and widows. He gives special grace to those who are His hands and feet to these. And let’s not forget the prisoners.
His love is thorough. His care is extensive. He is our example and mandator for loving our neighbor.
Who is our neighbor?
Jesus didn’t reply, “you know… the Jew next to you”, He said “the Samaritan”. That half-breed, pagan you hate. The person who makes you uncomfortable, and maybe even for historical reason.
Consider how He loves. Proactively, powerfully. Consider how He loves you. He has made us rich. Let us love generously.
