Isaiah 25-26

These chapters are beautiful! I love this part:

“You are a refuge from the storm and a shelter from the heat.”

As a northwest girl, those words didn’t mean much to me until I spent time in the south. My husband’s from Alabama and we spent a summer out there a couple years ago. The wet heat fills your lungs and weighs down your chest. I remember walking around shopping in July, carrying a styrofoam (yes it still exists out there) cup of ice chips and plopping down on a curb in tears because it was so hot. My hair was gigantic. The storms are both beautiful and terrifying. The power of weather is incredibly humbling. You can’t control it, you just wait it out in a safe spot. What a beautiful picture of God: a shelter from life’s storms.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.”

“But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough. You are a God who does what is right, and you smooth out the path ahead of them.”

Has a verse from today’s chapters come alive for you before? Carve out a little time today to think about it and write it down.
